Neurological diseases are, very often, devastating disorders that may have a serious impact on the patients as well as their relatives and friends, and they have, in addition, a tremendous social and economical impact. Yet it is clear that important advances have been made in recent years and that much more is known about the nervous system today than just a few years ago.
The study of diseases of the nervous system is not solely the task of very specialized researchers. Rather, advances in our knowledge of diseases of the nervous system are the result of a social commitment, in which several interests converge in the search for answers and solutions.
